The Missing Codes

Before I came into network marketing industry, I was trying out different opportunities (e.g. online business, investment, affiliate marketing and etc.), but guess what? I become successful in none of them. That keeps me wondering and trying to find out what could I have done better?

After all those experiences, I explored into network marketing. Does this mean that network marketing business is easier to do? At first, that’s what I thought. However, from the process of self-discovery, I learnt that the main concern is not the business. It’s ME.

Through the process of learning and self discovery, I found my 3 missing codes of success. Network marketing business is still as challenging as other businesses. It is these 3 missing codes of success help me to go through challenges in my current business.

The first code of success is the mindset. Many people build their dream or business using “part time” mentality.

I remember there was a time I came across different opportunities previously. I had the “part-time” mentality. I told myself, “it’s ok if I fail, it’s ok if I don’t have sales, It’s ok if I don’t……, I still have a job.”

True enough, I failed, I don’t have sales, I don’t have what I want. I still work in my job. This experience taught me that doesn’t matter what we want to do, we have start with the right mindset. Never leave a back-up plan, there is no back-up. Down the road, it’s either you make it there, or you don’t.

The second code of success is the actions & habits. Actions, habits and results, they are chained. You can’t expect to adopt bad habit to anticipate good result.

During the years, I went online and surfed for “ideas to make money.” I found a long list, I signed up and tried a couple of them, e.g selling products, affiliate marketing, investment and etc. However, after I signed up, I did not take actions and change my habits.

I don’t have any activities that contribute in building the business.

Did I set appointment to meet customer? No.

Did I update blogs to promote my products? No.

Did I put time priority for my business? No.

I was still living in the teacher lifestyle: going to school, preparing lessons, and marking exercises. Those actions and habits are good to build teaching career but it’s not good in building businesses that I signed up for.

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” John C. Maxwell

Third missing code of success is passion and life purpose.

When I was looking for new opportunities, I was money-mind. I was attracted by the money making potential. Still, I make big money in none of them. If you asked me what is the reason I signed up for those opportunities, I kept silent for a moment and the answer would be money.

I discovered my passion and life purpose throught my teaching career and Toastmasters. I found that I have passion in helping others to achieve better self: be a better communicator, be a better leader, and live a  better lifestyle.

Start to sit down, focus and visualise yourself.

  • What do you like to do?
  • How do you want to help people?
  • What are the values I can bring to the people?

There are more than one way to make a fortune. Doesn’t matter which industry you are in, there is always fortune for those who come with great passion, mission and vision.

You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar

i will constantly remind myself. When I am facing challenges in the future, stop blaming the business, the market or the industry. The main concern is still ME.

Be positive, in term of:

  • Mindset
  • Actions and habits
  • Passion and life purpose
